WITH BIG FIELDS AND MANDATORY PAYOUTS, WAGERING OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND THE FINAL WEEKEND OF THE SANTA ANITA CLASSIC MEET

First post time for Saturday is 12 p.m. with admission gates opening at 10 a.m.

Arcadia, CA (April 5, 2024) – With a tremendous 12-race card on tap Saturday featuring the 87th running of the Santa Anita Derby with a first post time at 12 p.m., plus a highly competitive 11-race card on Sunday with a first post time of 1p.m., wagering opportunities are abound this weekend at Santa Anita Park.

On Saturday, an all new Big 3 Pick 3 wager with a $3 minimum will be offered. The Big 3 Pick 3 tasks bettors with selecting the winners of Saturday’s three major Kentucky Derby preps: the GI Santa Anita Derby, GII Wood Memorial at Aqueduct and GII Blue Grass from Keeneland. The Big 3 Pick 3 begins with the Wood Memorial at 1:07 p.m. PT.

Saturday’s card at Santa Anita will also offer two Pick 5’s and three separate Pick 4 wagers, all with a 50-cent minimum. The early Pick 5 begins with the first race at 12 p.m.

The late Pick 5 starts with the eighth race at 3:36 p.m. Saturday’s early Pick 4 covers  races two thru five, the middle Pick 4 starts with the sixth race at 2:32 p.m. and the late Pick 4 begins with the ninth race at 4:09 p.m.

Saturday’s $1 Pick 6 starts with the seventh race at 3:04 p.m. PT.

There is also a $1 Coast-to-Coast Pick 5 on both Saturday and Sunday featuring races from Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park. With a player-friendly 15 percent takeout rate, the Coast-to-Coast Pick 5 Saturday begins at 1 p.m. PT with the third race from Santa Anita Park. On Sunday, horseplayers receive a boost as the Coast-to-Coast Pick 5 will be seeded with $100,000 in additional money.  Sunday’s Coast-to-Coast Pick 5 sequence will begin at 2:00 p.m. PT with race 3 at Santa Anita Park. If there is a carryover from Saturday’s Coast to Coast pool, the seeded money will be postponed. Additionally, the Coast-to-Coast Pick 5 has been extended through the end of Santa Anita's Hollywood Meet on June 16. 

Sunday marks the final day of Santa Anita’s Classic Meet, all of Santa Anita Park pools will have mandatory payouts in place. After a one-week break, live racing will resume at Santa Anita with the start of the Hollywood Meet on Friday, April 19. The Hollywood Meet runs through June 16.
