ANTONIO FRESU, LAULNE, WINNER: “On the wire I was pretty sure I got there. Phil brought her in great shape. She had a little break. She probably needed the race as well. That was the way to go six and a half down the hill. Down the road she is probably going to be a two-turn filly. She disappointed a little bit in the Breeders’ Cup, but she had a good record in France. Today she did it in a good way and hopefully she can step forward.

“I trust Phil D’Amato, he is an amazing trainer, so I listen to him what he has to say about the filly. I try to do what he tells me. I ride many horses for him in the morning, but I never had the opportunity to ride her. I’ve been watching her breezes and her races, she is very tactical. She can come from off the pace, and she can come and close. Today she hadn’t ran in quite a while and she was a little gassy. She put herself in a handy position, but at the same time I was following the right horse. When we came down the lane, she switched leads and had a good turn of foot.”

UMBERTO RISPOLI, ALLURING, SECOND : I had a good trip. Definitely down the hill the speed was difficult to beat today. I had a good target ahead of me. At the dirt crossing, I took the lead and she kind of waited for the other filly (Girl of My Dreams), she didn’t see (Laulne) coming. Probably, if she would have seen her, she would have given me a second wind, just to challenge the other filly. Last trip for her was a troubled trip, I had to hold her inside and she doesn’t like to be between horse. That’s why I took the option to go a little bit wider. Once I took her out, I was in the middle and waiting for someone coming, but Antonio, his filly just switched leads and ran down fast past me. If my horse saw her coming gradually next to me, my filly could have felt it and she would have given me another kick.”
