DOUBLE CARRYOVER OF $153K FOR FRIDAY’S PICK 6 A double carryover of $153,104.78 in the $2 Pick Six will be up for grabs on a nine-race card Friday at Santa Anita. First post is 1 p.m. PT with the Pick Six set to begin with the fourth race at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Prior to scratches, Friday’s Pick Six sequence averages 8.3 starters per race. Track officials project the entire Pick Six pool will exceed $750,000. Additionally on Friday, there is a carryover of $27,023 in the Super High 5, which will be offered on the ninth race at approximately 5 p.m.

Friday’s Pick Six carryover comes after no one successfully had all six winners in Sunday’s Pick Six. The consolation payout for tickets with 5-of-6 correct selections was $2,771.80.

Sunday’s Pick Six, which started with $36,681.65 in carryover money, had two winning favorites and three winners paying over $20. Helping to spur the carryover into Friday was Red On Sunday, trained by Peter Miller, who won the opening leg under apprentice Serafin Carmona and paid $24; Tecumseh Caroline, who won the seventh race under Antonio Fresu for trainer Phil D’Amato and paid $21.40; and Schilflied, trained by Patrick Gallagher, who scored in the nightcap with Juan Hernandez up and paid $24.60.

The winning horses in Saturday’s Pick Six beginning with the third race were #7 Red On Sunday ($24), #8 Uncle John ($5.60), #4 Maximus ($9.20), #4 Lil Richards Bello ($6), #2 Tecumseh Caroline ($21.40) and #11 Schilflied ($24.60).

47 SANTA ANITA-BASED RUNNERS PRE-ENTERED IN BREEDERS’ CUP

It was announced on Wednesday that a total of 212 horses were pre-entered for next week’s Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar. Of that distinguished group, 47 make their home at Santa Anita.

Among Santa Anita-based trainers, Bob Baffert has the most horses pre-entered with 10. He is followed by Phil D'Amato (8), Doug O’Neill (6), Tim Yakteen (4), John Sadler (3), Richard Mandella (3). Leonard Powell (2), Michael McCarthy (2), Todd Fincher (2), Richard Baltas (2), George Papaprodromou (1), Jeff Mullins (1), Dan Backer (1), Mark Glatt (1) and Peter Miller (1).

Below is a rundown of the Santa Anita-based horses pre-entered in the Breeders’ Cup. If a horse was cross entered in multiple races, their first or second preference is noted with a either a (1) or (2) next to their name.

The post position draw for the Breeders’ Cup is this Monday. It will be aired live on FanDuel TV from 4 to 5:30 p.m. PT.

FINISH LINES: Breeders’ Cup pre-entrants Nooni and Forbidden Kingdom worked Thursday at Santa Anita. Nooni, ticketed for the Juvenile Fillies, earned a bullet working five furlongs in 59.20 seconds for trainer Bob Baffert. Forbidden Kingdom, who is on the also-eligible list for the Turf Sprint, was clocked going a quarter mile in 24.20 seconds for trainer Richard Mandella…Jockey Juan Hernandez tallied another hat trick Sunday with three winning rides on an eight-race program. He now has 18 wins at the stand, which leads the jockey’s standings by three wins over runner-up Umberto Rispoli. Hernandez on Sunday scored in the opener with favorite Splendora ($2.60) for Bob Baffert, the sixth with favorite Lil Richards Bello ($6) for trainer Peter Eurton and the nightcap with longshot Schiliflied ($24.60) for trainer Patrick Gallagher…Saturday’s feature is the Grade II, $200,000 Twilight Derby going 1 1/8 miles on turf. A field of seven will go postward led by graded winner Stay Hot, the 3-1 program favorite who seeks his fifth stakes victory for trainer Peter Eurton…Sunday is closing day of the Autumn Meet. There will be mandatory payouts in all pools. Sunday’s card will be set later on Thursday.
