VAZQUEZ COULD MAKE HAY WHILE HERNANDEZ IS AWAY Ramon Vazquez has a slim one-win lead over Juan Hernandez in Santa Anita’s jockey standings with two racing days remaining in the 18-day meet that ends Sunday, but the 38-year-old native of Puerto Rico stands an excellent chance of capturing the title since he is named to ride in nine of 10 races at Santa Anita today while Hernandez, a 29-year-old native of Veracruz, Mexico, is at Keeneland to fulfill riding engagements there.
Umberto Rispoli has 18 wins good for third in Santa Anita’s standings, but he, too, rides at Keeneland today. He is named on six horses Sunday at Santa Anita.
On Sunday, Vazquez is named to ride nine horses on Santa Anita’s 10-race program, while Hernandez is named on six.
Vazquez’s Sunday mounts are Talkative Gal (5-2 morning line chance in the second race), Colonel Bowman (8-1 in the third), Azul Coast (2-1 in the fourth), Devil Among Us (4-1 in the fifth), Hot On the Trail (7-2 in the sixth), American Conquest (6-1 in the seventh), Lord Dragon (6-1 in the eighth race), Commander (10-1 in the ninth) and In Vronsky Style (5-2 in the 10th).
Hernandez is named on Spirit Maker (6-1 in the first), Tripoli (8-5 in the fourth), Moon Ice (7-2 in the fifth), Jerusalema, 4-1 in the seventh), Street Ruckus (4-1 in the eighth) and Turn On The Jets (5-2 in the ninth).
TRAINERS’ RACE COULD GO DOWN TO THE WIRE Phil D’Amato and Peter Miller are in a flat-footed tie for training honors with 14 victories each through 16 days of Santa Anita’s 18-day meet that ends Sunday.
The race could go down to Sunday’s 10th and final race, as D’Amato has 5-2 morning line favorite In Vronsky Style entered in the $63,000 race to be decided at about 6 ½ furlongs on turf.
Today, D’Amato has Earls Rock (9-5) and Gypsy King (7-2) both in the sixth race, Tio Magico (12-1) and Gregory’s Pride (7-2, both in the eighth, and Carole Lombard (6-1) and Turn of Foot (10-1) both in the 10th.
Miller today has Midnight Majesty (5-2 in the first), Aptel (6-1 in the second), Bizzy Gal (9-5) in the third, Liberty Forever (5-2) and I Know Cash Flow (6-1) both in the fifth.
On Sunday, D’Amato has New Grange (5-2 on the morning line) in the fourth race, Devil Among Us (4-1 in the fifth), Resultant (8-1 in the eighth), Turn On the Jets (5-2) and Lincoln Hawk (8-1) both in the ninth race and In Vronsky Style (5-2 in the 10th and final). Miller’s Sunday entrants are Jerusalema (4-1) and American Conquest (6-1), both in the seventh race.
CHRB MEETING DATE CHANGED TO NOV. 22 The California Horse Racing Board meeting that was scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17, tentatively set to begin at 10 a.m., has been rescheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 22. The location remains at Cal Expo. The meeting will be open to the public.

FINISH LINES: Red Baron’s Barn, LLC or Rancho Temescal LLC lead owners at Santa Anita this meet with five victories, one more than runners-up Gary Barber and Mike Pegram, Karl Watson and Paul Weitman. Red Baron and Rancho has two horses entered today, as does Barber, while Team Pegram has one horse entered Sunday . . . Santa Anita’s 18-day meet concludes Sunday when Daylight Saving Time ends.
