JOEL ROSARIO, TIZ FLIRTATIOUS, WINNER: “She’s a pretty nice filly. I’ve rode her before and she acted really good last time I rode her. She was still rank in her last race, maybe that’s why she got tired. Today she was really relaxed and she covered a lot of ground when I asked her to run. She looked good.”

RUSSELL BAZE, BEST PRESENT EVER, SECOND: “The race set up great for me. I was able to lay fairly close. I always seemed to have a good spot where I had a clear trip in front of me. I got fanned a little bit coming on to the main track, but that’s not unusual racing down the hill. She pushed right on to the lead and I thought we were home free, but that horse that won it, she just ran me down like a greyhound and a rabbit. It always feels good coming down for the Cal Cup. It’s a great day of racing. Normally I do a little better than this, but that filly really ran her eyeballs out. She didn’t have any excuses. Couple of the other ones had excuses but maybe they weren’t as good as we thought they were.”

GARRETT GOMEZ, UNUSUAL HOTTIE, THIRD: “Great trip. I got through every step of the way. Thought I was in a decent spot. She handled everything perfect. On this day, she was third-best. She ran a good race.”
