ESWAN FLORES, WARREN’S AMBER, WINNER: “My horse helped me out a lot. This filly just kept running. I want to thank Jorge (Gutierrez) for the opportunity. He trained the filly very good and she was sharp. She did it all.”
MIKE SMITH, STARLIGHT MAGIC, SECOND: “She’s a nice, nice, mare. She hadn’t run in a while and it showed a little bit today. I hit the front and when I did she started to get a bit tired at the end. If she had another work under her belt we probably would have got there.”
DANIEL VERGARA, RIVER KISS, THIRD: “This filly is a good horse but I had to use a little bit early because the five (Babyneedsnewshoes) and the one (Heleonor Rugby) put some pressure on me. Without that it may have been a different result.”

JORGE GUTIERREZ, WARREN’S AMBER, WINNER: “This was a good win and a nice pot. She’ll probably go in the Melair (Stakes, $300,000 for 3-year-old Cal-bred fillies at 1 1/8 miles at Hollywood Park on April 28) after this race. We’re going to stretch her out. I just told Eswan (Flores) to let her break out of there and let her position herself where she feels comfortable. She broke a little awkward and kind of stepped back and I was a little worried, but she didn’t lose her cool and found a spot and went through.”

MARK GLATT, STARLIGHT MAGIC, SECOND: “I thought she had a really good trip, and it’s hard to win off a layoff (the horse hadn’t raced since October). She’ll be ready for them next time. I think we’re right on schedule. It would have been nice to have won today, but we’ll move on to the next one.”

NOTES: The winning owner is Benjamin C. Warren of Rialto, CA.
