CLOCKER'S CORNER HANDICAP
ALEX SOLIS, ANNIHILATION, Winner: “I had a great trip. Dan (Hendricks) wanted me to save ground and keep her together. I was waiting in the back, in the middle of the pack and saving ground. At the eighth of a mile, I got her into the clear and she just did her stuff. I had a lot of horse and the pace was fast, so it worked out for us.”
DAN HENDRICKS, ANNIHILATION, WINNER: “Her best style is to sit and wait, and that’s what we decided to do, and make one quick burst. We thought she could move up on the turf and she’d be a good filly. She’s gone on beyond that expectation now with the two wins (referring to the Leggio Memorial at the Fair Grounds on Jan. 23) and figuring out her style. She’s a little thing that wants to go when you ask her to . . . this sets up perfect for her to go to the Las Cienegas (Handicap, Grade III, $100,000 at about 6 ½ furlongs on turf on April 11).”
NOTES: The winning owners are Jeff Davenport, Tom Lenner of Manhattan Beach and William Strauss of Del Mar.
