GARRETT GOMEZ, IN THE SLIPS, WINNER: “I was very confident in her today. I knew she was pretty much better than those other fillies. She’s becoming more Americanized but I wanted to keep her covered up as much as I could, but the way it turned out, I had to give up a couple lengths around the first turn because I couldn’t tuck in. I was able to slide in behind Brice Blanc (aboard Forbidden Paradise) leaving the three-quarter pole and I just followed him. My only concern was that I wanted to make sure that she’d be able to quicken off the last turn, and she was able to do that. She finished up really good. I’ve been working her since she ran the last time (Nov. 29, second in the Gr. III Miesque) and she’s getting better and better.”

JEFF MULLINS, IN THE SLIPS, WINNER: “She showed she had talent from the time I got her. She showed it in her last race. I don’t know what might be next. There isn’t a race on the grass for her here in two months.”
