JOCKEY QUOTES

JOEL ROSARIO, CREATIVE CAUSE, WINNER: “The race set up good and he did everything easy. He showed me that he was the best horse in the race. This was his first time going long. The horse on the front had an easy lead and I was just tracking him. When I asked him to go, he just took off. I don’t know how good he is, but he ran his best race today.”

TRAINER QUOTES

MIKE HARRINGTON, CREATIVE CAUSE, WINNER: “Yes, we will take him to the Breeders’ Cup (Juvenile at Churchill Downs on Nov. 5) off of this race. That’s the reason we ran him. It’s a ‘Win and You’re In’ race.”

JOCKEY QUOTES

CHANTAL SUTHERLAND, GAME ON DUDE, WINNER: “Bob (Baffert) wanted this horse in the race early. He’s the boss and it (pressing the pace) agreed with his style. We broke a little sluggish and I wanted to be sure and press Joel (Rosario, aboard Tres Borrachos). Kudos to Bob. His horses are always fit and to run like he did today, he had to be fit. I could hear Trevor Denman through the stretch and I knew it was getting tighter and tighter. I couldn’t see who was coming but Trevor helped push me on.”

JOCKEY QUOTES

JOEL ROSARIO, DUBAWI HEIGHTS, WINNER: “I don’t think I’ve ever won three Grade Is in one day. When you’re in a race you never know what can happen. She gives you everything she has and she tries very hard. Every time she runs she gets better. Before, you had to ask her to be close to the pace and now, she does it on her own.”

JOCKEY QUOTES

GARRETT GOMEZ, BROKEN DREAMS, WINNER: “It’s good to start off on a winning note, especially in a stakes race. Very seldom do we get a stakes race so early in the day, on top of that having it be my first mount of the meet. Anytime you win a race here at Santa Anita it’s always fun. I thought Unzip Me would be out there and a couple of them might put some pressure on her.

JOCKEY QUOTES

MIKE SMITH, REGALLY READY, WINNER: “They (Team Asmussen) told me to just stay out of his way. This was my first time on him, but I’ve been chasing him, so it’s nice to be on his back. I knew the two outside horses (Victory Pete and Compari) had been away a while, so I was hoping I could shake loose of them and get a little breather. When we came to the dirt, they both fell back and that gave me the break I needed. My horse relaxed a bit and that was the difference.”

JOCKEY QUOTES

PATRICK VALENZUELA, SEPARATE FOREST, WINNER: “This filly loves this hillside course. I knew she (Unzip Me) was right behind me and I had to get away from her before we crossed the dirt. I had enough filly under me to get that done.”
