ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 1, 2013)—With no one connecting the pari-mutuel dots in Friday’s low takeout, 50 cent Pick 5, there is a massive carryover into Saturday of $891,813, and it is expected the total Pick 5 pool on Saturday could exceed $4 million.
The 50 cent Pick 5 covers the first five races—which on Saturday consist of the $100,000 Juvenile Turf Sprint Stakes, the $100,000 Damascus Stakes, the Grade III, $100,000 Senator Ken Maddy Stakes, the Grade I, $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies and the Grade I, $2 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf.
With 47 horses entered in the Pick 5 races, average field size is at 9.4 horses per race.
In addition to the Pick 5, players will also have a majority opportunity to cash in the Breeders’ Cup Classic Day Pick Six, which offers a guaranteed pool of $2.5 million and will start with race seven and culminate with race 12—the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Race seven on Saturday is the Grade I, $1 million Geico Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, and race 12 is the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic. With two early scratches, there are now 72 horses entered in the Classic Day Pick Six, for an average of 12 horses per race.
First post time on Saturday, Breeders’ Cup Classic Day, is at 10:15 a.m. Admission gates will open at 8:00 a.m.
