ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 12, 2012)—Jose Nava, a 59-year-old laborer from Pacoima, selected 2-5 favorite Generations to win Santa Anita’s eighth and final race on Friday and won CashCall’s $1,000 to Win Contest, collecting $1,400.

“I come out two or three times a week,” said Nava. “This is the first time I’ve played in this contest.”

When asked if he had any plans for his winnings, Nava said, “I’ve got money for Santa Anita this weekend.” <

On-track fans are encouraged to fill out an entry blank when they get to the track each day and to submit them at the Thoroughbreds Club Center, located on the main floor of the Grandstand’s east end.

A Name is drawn following each day’s seventh race, at which time the participant designates which horse the $1,000 win bet will be placed upon. Winners get to keep the $1,000 put up by CashCall.

Saturday is California Cup Day at Santa Anita and The Great Race Place will card 10 races for horses bred in California, highlighted by the $175,000 Cal Cup Classic, presented by City National Bank.
