CASHCALL CONTEST WINNER BAGS $1,900 AT SANTA ANITA, LOS ANGELES COUPLE MAKE FIRST TRIP TO TRACK
ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2012)—A Los Angeles woman made her first trip to The Great Race Place count on Thursday, as she tabbed 4-5 favorite R Doubleday and leading jockey Joe Talamo to win the day’s final race and went home with $1,900—courtesy of CashCall’s $1,000 to Win Contest.
“This is our first time coming to Santa Anita,” said Julia Bransky, who was accompanied by her husband, Howard. “We went on-line and found this Santa Anita special on Travel Zoo that included lunch and valet parking. We saw the CashCall sign when we came in, so we decided to play.”
When asked what made her decide to select R Doubleday, Bransky, who became the sixth contest winner of the meet, said she made, of all things, a call.
“I called my dad in the Midwest. He said, ‘If you’re gonna bet big money, never go against the favorite.’ So that’s what I did, I picked the favorite.”
Bransky also said that she and her husband are planning a trip to Europe in February.
“I’m going to take this money and buy an expensive handbag. I’ll need it on the trip,” she said.
All on-track attendees are eligible to enter the daily CashCall $1,000 to Win Contest. Participants can fill out an entry blank at any admission gate and deposit it at the Thoroughbreds Club Center prior to the seventh race.
First post time on Friday at Santa Anita is 1 p.m.
