Breeders’ Cupcake Returns for Third Year

Glendale bakery Goodie Girls creates cupcake to benefit Children Mending Hearts

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 4, 2012 – The Breeders’ Cupcake returns for the 29th running of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships, Nov. 2-3 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, CA. Over 4,000 cupcakes are expected to be consumed during Breeders’ Cup Week. This year’s cupcake captures the official colors of the Breeders’ Cup and is created exclusively by Goodie Girls, a Glendale-based, award-winning bakery. The Blueberry LemonDrop is a blueberry cupcake with lemon Swiss merengue and purple fondant daisies.

Cupcakes can be purchased individually for $4 or $48 for a dozen at the Goodie Girls bakery. The Breeders’ Cupcake will also be available at the “Taste of LA” culinary event which takes place during the two-day Championships at Santa Anita. The recipe can be found at One dollar from each cupcake sold will be donated to Children Mending Hearts (CMH), a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering disadvantaged youth through educational and arts programs that build empathy and global citizenry. This builds upon the Breeders’ Cup previously announced partnership with CMH as part of its official outreach program, with the charity participating in a weeklong series of events both on and off the track to raise awareness about the cause
