‘FIESTA DE SANTA ANITA’ SET FOR SUNDAY, MARCH 11, LOS RELEROS DEL NORTE, GRACIELA BELTRAN TO PERFORM ALONG WITH DON CHETO FROM LA QUE BUENA, HBO LUCK ACTOR JOHN ORTIZ TO WELCOME ATTENDEES
ARCADIA, Calif. (March 8, 2012)—Actor John Ortiz, who portrays colorful trainer Turo Escalante on HBO’s hit series LUCK, will welcome and entertain fans at Santa Anita’s first-ever “Fiesta de Santa Anita” this Sunday, March 11. The family-friendly event will take place in the track’s spacious infield area and will include live entertainment provided by Los Rieleros del Norte and Graciela Beltran, with renowned entertainer Don Cheto serving as emcee.
Headliners Los Rieleros del Norte and Graciela Beltran will create chart-topping music that spans several generations in the regional music genre. Performances by Los Rieleros del Norte, Beltran and Cheto will continue throughout the entire racing day.
Outstanding Mexican food from area eateries will also be available, along with Family Fun activities. Santa Anita will host a second “Fiesta de Santa Anita” on Sunday, April 1.
“This is shaping up as a big event,” said Santa Anita’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing Chris Quinn. “It is an honor for Santa Anita Park to provide the Hispanic community of Southern California with a day of entertainment and activities for the entire family. We’re also excited to have John Ortiz involved. With his sense of humor and bilingual capability, I know he’ll have a lot of fun with this. I think most people know by now that the character of Escalante is based on our own real-life trainer Julio Canani.
“We expect a family-oriented Hispanic demographic for this and these folks have traditionally felt very comfortable here. In many cases, horseracing is a part of their culture and the $5 cost of (General) admission is very appealing, especially when you consider kids 17 and under are admitted free with an adult.”
First post time on Sunday is 12:30 p.m. “Fiesta de Santa Anita” will begin with Ortiz welcoming everyone to the infield area at 1 p.m., which will be immediately followed by a performance from Beltran.
