ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) _ Dirt, grass, a rug, none of that seems relative to Einstein's racing ability.

Running for the first time on a synthetic surface, the Brazilian-bred whiz turned in a virtually picture-perfect performance to win Saturday's $1 million Santa Anita Handicap.

"He's a good horse on the turf. He's a good horse on the dirt. He's a good horse on anything," jockey Julien Leparoux said. "We didn't really know about this track, but we were pretty sure he was going to handle it.

"And he did."

(March 6, 2009) – After competing in five successive graded stakes races and finishing second three times, Gotta Have Her found the climate in Friday’s $61,200 Faraway Eyes Purse to be ideal while registering a 1 ½ -length victory in the 6 ½-furlong event for fillies and mares over Santa Anita’s hillside turf course.

As the 13-10 favorite in a field of eight, Gotta Have Her tracked the early leaders before jockey Tyler Baze found an opening between horses in midstretch, and the 5-year-old mare steadily drew away from her rivals while running the distance in 1:13.35.

ARCADIA, Calif. (March 4, 2009)—Although the legendary musical duo of Hall & Oates weren’t on hand to enjoy it, today’s Sara Smile Purse was taken in impressive fashion by favored Unworldly Heat, a 4-year-old California-bred filly by Unusual Heat who was ridden by Rafael Bejarano and is owned coincidentally, by Hitbound Stable.

The Sara Smile, a first-condition allowance race for California-bred fillies and mares aged four years and up, was contested at six furlongs in a driving rain on Santa Anita’s Pro Ride synthetic main track.

ARCADIA, Calif. (March 4, 2009) – While Saturday’s Grade I, $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks seems a solitary audition for dynamic 3-year-old filly Stardom Bound’s projected date with the boys in next month’s Santa Anita Derby, the 72nd running of the $1-million Santa Anita Handicap is plainly bursting with diversity and depth.
