ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 7, 2010)—Amid banners reading “Welcome Back,” Santa Anita Park unveiled its new all-natural dirt main track on Monday morning at 4:30 a.m, as horses and horsemen returned to Santa Anita’s historic one mile oval for the first time since July.

“It’s really exciting to welcome everyone back home, so to speak,” said Ami Atkinson, Santa Anita’s Horsemen’s Liaison and Racing Office Manager. “I’ve been working in this Liaison position for 12 years now and I’ve never seen so many people so thrilled to be back here at Santa Anita. It seems like everyone is excited about the new track and the bigger purses that we’re going to be offering.”

ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 7, 2010)—Santa Anita Park, which had been closed to training since this past July, unveiled its all-new, natural dirt surface Monday morning as several hundred Thoroughbreds went through their early morning paces in advance of Santa Anita’s winter/spring opener on Dec. 26.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 3, 2010)—The status of Santa Anita’s new, all natural dirt main track, which will open for training this Monday at 4:30 a.m. will be discussed in an interview with Ted Malloy, Santa Anita’s main track construction Project Manager. The interview with Malloy was conducted Friday afternoon at Santa Anita.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 30, 2010)—Santa Anita Park will welcome horses to its new, all-natural dirt main track on Monday, Dec. 6, as “The Great Race Place” will reopen for training in advance of its traditional opener on Dec. 26.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 23, 2010)—Santa Anita Park announced on Thursday a list of five finalists for the 62nd annual Santa Anita George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award, with the winner to be announced in January.

Joe Bravo, Javier Castellano, Garrett Gomez, Corey Lanerie and Gallyn Mitchell are the 2011 Woolf finalists, with the winner to be determined by a vote of jockeys nationwide.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 18, 2010)—Santa Anita’s ninth annual Sunshine Millions Day will not only provide fans with exciting Florida-bred vs. California-bred Thoroughbred action, but those attending on Jan. 29 will also be treated to a first-ever Gourmet Food Truck Festival, as 16 food trucks from around Southern California will be offering a wide variety of cuisine at modest prices.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 12, 2010)—Santa Anita’s workout camera, a popular item on the track’s website for the past three years, is now available to fans via cell phone internet browser.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2010)—With the pilot for HBO’s highly anticipated “Luck” already complete, production for season-one will resume at Santa Anita this coming Sunday, Oct. 31.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2010)—Stall applications are now being accepted for Santa Anita’s traditional winter/spring meeting, which opens Dec. 26. Currently closed for main track construction, Santa Anita is scheduled to reopen for training on Dec. 6.

Stall applications are now available to horsemen at www.santaanita.com and at racetracks and training centers throughout California. Applications are due to be returned to the Santa Anita Racing Office by Friday, Nov. 12.

ARCADIA, Calif. (Sept. 30, 2010)—Santa Anita officials announced on Tuesday that construction will begin on a new all-natural dirt main track on Oct. 11. Crews will begin removing the existing synthetic material at that time and it is estimated the track will be ready for training by Dec. 6, with Santa Anita’s traditional winter/spring meeting set to begin on Dec. 26.
